Year 9 dance the night away

Year 9 boys were ever the gentlemen for their dance partners.

As part of The Rite Journey programme, CBC Year 9 students hosted a delightful social in the College Gym for their peers at Iona Presentation College.

The night was the culmination of four weeks of dancing lessons, where boys learnt to tango and jive, all the while demonstrating excellent etiquette.

Boys and girls wowed teachers and their peers with their newly acquired skills, needing only a little help from CBC teacher and dance instructor, Keely Laing.

The Gym was transformed with an eye-catching black and white theme, complete with a stunning entrance and disco lights to really make the event a night to remember.

Year 11 student, Matt Burd, was on the decks for the evening, making sure there was never a dull moment on the dance floor, while the photo booth provided some mementos of the special evening.

Supper was served to the hungry young men and their guests by Year 11 students, who gave up their Friday night to help throughout the evening.

The Year 9 social is an important part of the College's Rite Journey programme, which assists boys in transitioning into manhood by creating a safe environment in which they can be challenged and take risks.

The evening is specifically designed to build confidence and responsibility, as they develop intotomorrow's gentlemen.
